Deng Maternity Session

Sunshine After the Rain!

After what seemed like 100  reschedules due to rain, I finally had the pleasure of meeting the Deng family!  The joy in this couple was evident as soon as they stepped out of their car.  Their smiles and excitement were even more refreshing than the feeling of sunshine after our many weeks of rain.

The arrival of a couple’s first child is a special, and brief, period in the course of their lives.  These nine months are filled with anticipation, planning, preparing and wondering.  Wondering what their child will be like, who they will become, what have they gotten themselves into (only kidding).  Through all the questions and fears, what brings peace to future parents is knowing they have the most perfect teammate by their side.  Watching how attentive and loving this father to be was toward his beautiful bride was nothing short of inspiring.  There is no doubt that their son will feel nothing short of loved and adored.

Maternity sessions are such special sessions, because they capture the couple in this intimate and emotional time.  Many times I hear that women do not want these sessions, because they are insecure about their appearance.  My goal is to not only make the mother feel beautiful and confident, but to showcase the joy within this precious time.

Warmth of Love on a Winter Evening

I had the honor of meeting Kayla and Sam last year as I photographed their proposal.  Sam is an active member of the military, and therefore has spent a large amount of the past year overseas.  While he was stateside, I had the pleasure of capturing their engagement photos.  What I love most about engagement sessions is the way each looks at the other.  As a photographer, I can feel the excitement of the couple to just be in the presence of the other.  For this couple in particular, their reunion after a long separation made them even more grateful for this time together.  The purity of love in this stage is so refreshing and uplifting that I never leave an engagement session feeling anything short of excited.  This location was both stunning and perfect for the session.  The contrast of the rough and worn stone against the softness of this couple’s touch was beautiful against the golden hour light.  Engagements are just a brief period of time, but they are a truly special and sacred time in a couple’s life.  I was so pleased to be another small part of this couple’s love story.

Antrim Newborn Session

Welcome Baby Evanell

It is hard to believe that the new year is here! I have so much in store for 2018, and could not be more excited about what is to come.  This year is going to be about pushing limits and refocusing my energy.  I want to break through my creative limits to discover new ideas and new inspiration.  I also want to return my focus to my true photography passions, maternity and newborn.

It was wonderful to start 2018 by photographing the precious Antrim family after they welcomed sweet newborn Evanell.  I loved having her big sister by my side, both watching over her newborn sister and demonstrating the amazing mind and curiosity of a child.  We both couldn’t stop smiling as I answered her questions and captured her newborn sister’s sleepy smile.  The bond between those little girls will be so strong, and I felt extremely privileged to witness the beginning of it.  Even beyond the bond of sister’s though is the bond between a father and his newborn daughter.  Capturing the delicate features of a newborn girl next to the rougher features of her father’s shows his strength as her greatest protector.  The newborn session for this family truly contained every aspect of why I love newborn photography so very much!
